Position: Global Platform Trainer
AAIU operates a Youth Hub in Apac, known as the Global Platform Uganda (GPU). This is a vibrant, safe space for youth training, empowerment, and collective activism. GPU aims to inspire, motivate, and position young people as key agents of change in building a just, sustainable, and democratic society. It serves as a hub for youth-led research, evidence-based advocacy, and critical thinking, bringing together youth organizations, activists, and social movements to learn, reflect, and coordinate collective action.

Job Summary
The Global Platform Trainer will report directly to the Project Coordinator. The trainer will be responsible for ensuring that all Global Platform trainings consistently apply the organization’s pedagogical principles and utilize the “Learning Development Cycle” training management system. They will also support the effective implementation of the impact assessment framework and contribute to initiatives that promote a global culture of learning and activism within the team. Approximately 80% of the trainer’s time will be dedicated to delivering trainings, workshops, and youth hub activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- In close cooperation with ActionAid International Uganda program, GP Trainers team and other strategic partners, ensure all trainings follow the Learning Development Cycle, learning Principles, Guidelines and Methodologies and Impact Framework at the Global Platform.
- Facilitate trainings at the Global Platform Youth Hub in Apac and other hubs around the country on request from the AAIU Programme Team.
- Provide mentorship and support to Activista youth network countrywide and ensure their participation in AAIU trainings and campaigns.
- Convene monthly mentorship and coaching sessions with youth groups, activists and feminist movement groups to support learning acquired to trigger action for social change in their communities.
- Take lead in monitoring, evaluation and assessing impact based on Global Platform’s Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.
- Initiate a culture of reflection, feedback, debrief and regular reflections on training, content, materials and on facilitation methods.
- Oversee GP Youth Hub activity with the support of SPAII Project Coordinator to create space for discussion, interacting, learning from each other, research and organize activities young people find relevant.
- Coordinate content creation and scheduling on Global Platform’s social media platforms ensuring graphics, captions, videos and other content is uploaded regularly.
- Coordinate and implement online campaigns and in person based on strategy and timelines, monitor campaign performance and respond to community interactions.
- Facilitate the development of documents such as training manuals and reference documents to be used by partner organisations in conducting trainings and campaigns for young people.
- Participate in the organization fundraising initiatives through the provision of information needed in the writing of funding concepts and proposals.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in development studies, Social Sciences, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Post graduate diploma in Project Planning and Management is an added advantage.
Professional Work experience:
- Experience in conducting digital campaigns, preferably in a development context
- Knowledge of and experience in developing effective campaigns
- Experience working with Youth and women groups
- Ability to provide capacity building and support to people with diverse backgrounds and different degrees of digital expertise.
- Experience in working with diversified groups in rural and peri-urban set ups.
- Must be knowledgeable in Human Rights based approach to programming and participatory tools
- Knowledge and experience in documentation and capturing learning.
