Young People Receive Training on Climate Justice
ActionAid International Uganda, in collaboration with the You-Lead secretariat through the Global platform in Apac, Uganda, held a young people's training for capacity building on Climate Change, Protection of the environment, and Climate Financing from 17 to 20 September, with support from SPA II. The training was part of ActionAid's Global Climate Justice campaign.
The training aimed at deepening understanding and engagement with young people, especially young women, to combat climate change and its effects manifested through persistent drought, floods, and heat waves, among others, and ensure climate Justice in their communities and, in so doing, the broader East African Region.
This training was built on climate discourse from successive You-Lead summits and post-summit agendas, as well as ActionAid Uganda's and its partners' workaround climate justice.
The training was interactive. It allowed the participants to develop campaign messages on climate justice and promote them on their social media channels.
The training concluded with a vibrant march through Apac town, with placards bearing messages advocating for climate justice. The district leadership, including the RDC and LC5 chairperson, joined the march to show solidarity with the young people. The final event was an East African panel from ActionAid countries that discussed climate change challenges and solutions.
