ActionAid Reaches out to Student Leaders

ActionAid International Uganda (Global Platform) attended the student leaders open day held on 17th March 2023 at Makerere University on the theme: Unleashing potentials of student leaders in Uganda through innovation and critical thinking. The student clubs were able to exhibit and showcase different products, activities, and services.

A session led by Global Platform Uganda team was on feminist transformative leadership where students have been urged to position themselves ready to take-on the leadership challenges and opportunities within their institutions and community to achieve the desired objectives of creating a fair and equitable society. “You need to position yourself, ask critical questions to help in understanding contexts and be able to strategize for or against whatever arises” said Regina Akullu, the Learning, and Impact Coordinator Global Platform AAIU.

While discussing the future of innovations, challenges, and available opportunities, panellists expressed the fear for the loss of job opportunities with the invention of automotives and urged students to prepare for self-employment through innovations. The student minister of education Kelvin Luyombya Joshua, anticipate that there shall be training of club leaders from 27th-30th March 2023 in which all partners are invited to support.
